Crawford County Planning Commission + Office
Crawford County Planning is a countywide entity made up of the Planning Office and Planning Commission. The Planning Office consists of staff who coordinate long-term investments and community development with the Crawford County Planning Commission and local municipalities. Since 1963, the Planning Commission has been composed of local volunteers from across the County who make recommendations, offer guidance, and advocate for local planning and community development efforts. Together, the Planning Office and Commission work to lead and empower thriving communities across Crawford County.

Notice of Public Meeting for discussion and comment, and Public Enactment of Crawford County Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO) Amendment
Crawford County proposes to enact a Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO) Amendment at the regular meeting of the Crawford County Board of Commissioners on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, at 9:30 am at the Crawford County Courthouse, 903 Diamond Park, Meadville, PA, 16335. The proposed ordinance, entitled “An Ordinance to Amend the Crawford County Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance to add Provisions for Data Center Land Development and Language Clarifications,” amends existing language to add clarity and adds provisions to address unique land development issues associated with Data Centers. A copy of the full language of the proposed amendment may be examined or obtained at the Crawford County Planning Office, located at 903 Diamond Park, Meadville, PA, or the offices of The Meadville Tribune, located at 847 Federal Court, Meadville, PA.

Crawford County intends to hold a public meeting to discuss and receive comments on the proposed SALDO amendment language. This meeting will be free of charge and will be held on June 8, 2026, at 5:30 PM at the West Mead Township Municipal Building, 1150 Morgan Village Road, Meadville, PA 16335.
Crawford County Adopts Countywide Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance
On April 23, 2025, the Board of Commissioners of Crawford County adopted the county’s Subdivision and Land Development Ordinance (SALDO). This new law establishes guidelines for growth and development in communities that have not established a local regulation. Although the enactment of the ordinance occurred in April, enforcement of the ordinance went into effect on October 20, 2025.

Crawford County Releases Blight Revitalization Program
Crawford County Planning is releasing a program to tackle blight in our communities. The Blight Revitalization Program, which has its own website, will fund demolition or clearance of blighted properties through grants of up to $20,000.

Community Assistance + Development Review Services
Effective October 20, 2025, Crawford County has updated its subdivision and land development proposal review policy. Crawford County Planning will, until further notice, waive the ten-day requirement for applications. Crawford County Planning reserves the right to withhold filing of applications until a completed submission is received.
