Tiffany Thayer is the 20 year old daughter of Gary and Robin Thayer of Linesville. She is currently a sophomore at Slippery Rock University, dual majoring in Special and Elementary Education. She enjoys scrapbooking, sewing, spending time with family and friends, and working with children. She recently attended the State Fair Queen Contest in Hershey, and had an amazing time. She did not place, but she had a great experience, and met wonderful people at the convention!
The Crawford County Fair Queen is expected to represent the fair with pride and dignity and to exhibit the highest of principles at all times.
1. The contestant must be born a female who is a full time resident of Crawford County, Pennsylvania.
2. The contestant must be at least 16, but no older than 20, years of age as of June 1, 2010.
3. The contestant must have parent’s or guardian’s consent.
4. The contestant must be single, never married, have not been pregnant nor given birth to a child.
5. She cannot be a former State Fair Queen contestant.
6. The Queen or the First Alternate must be available to attend the Pennsylvania State Fair Convention in January in Hershey, PA. (The cost of registration fee, Hotel Accommodations, mileage to and from Hershey, Meals, beyond what is included in the Registration fee will be paid for by the Crawford County Fair Board. Also, the Board will pay the same expenses for the Chaperone).
7. The contestant will be selected on the basis of appearance, speaking ability, poise, personality, and a general all around knowledge of the Crawford County Fair. She must have a natural sales ability and be efficient in public relations. The judges will be looking for a person who can best represent a wholesome and quality attitude towards the Crawford County Fair and the agricultural community.
8. The contestant must give a speech that is no more than 3 minutes long, on “Why you should come to the Crawford County Fair.” (Creativity is encouraged) The use of props is permitted. (The use of live animals will not be permitted, or the use of fire or weapons. Overhead projectors or PowerPoint presentations are not permitted).
9. The contestant must write an essay (typewritten, on 2 pages in 12 pt. font, double spaced and 1” margins) on “What the Crawford County Fair means to my community.” to be sent in with the application.
10. The Contestant may download the application above or stop in at the Crawford County Commissioners office. No applications will be mailed to the contestants. Deadline for all entries is June 30, 2010. Please mail to The Crawford County Fair, c/o Diana Perry, 903 Diamond Square, Meadville, PA 16335, or submit to the Crawford County Commissioners office.
12. The Fair Queen Pageant will be held on Sunday, August 22, 2010 at 7:00 pm at the Crawford County Fair on the stage.
13. The queen must be able to appear at various functions during the fair. (as needed in the various departments).
14. The Crawford County Fair Queen will receive a monetary cash award of $750.00. She will receive $250.00 when she is crowned and the remaining when her reign is completed. The 1st runner up will receive $250.00 monetary cash award.
15. The reigning Queen will be responsible for getting her own vehicle to go to the parades and any other event she may be asked to participate in.
