The Prothonotary is the Chief Clerk of the Civil Division of the Court of Common Pleas.
The civil filings entrusted to the Prothonotary are extremely personal to the individuals involved. From custody and divorce actions to mortgage foreclosures and medical malpractice lawsuits these court actions have a dramatic effect on individuals' lives. Our Judges and court staff depend on the Prothonotary to provide them with a complete, up to date court files. The Prothonotary and the staff must in a timely and efficient manner document each and every filing, secure it in a well organized format, and account for all monies paid as filing fees and deposits. The office itself must be well organized. The individuals involved in these cases, children and adults, deserve nothing less.
