DAV Transportation

DAV TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM

Thanks to the efforts of the VA Medical Center in Erie, Disabled American Veterans (DAV), the American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and our concerned veterans, Crawford County is proud to have five DAV vans. The vans are used for transporting veterans to and from their VA medical appointments and are conveniently located at VFW posts in Linesville, Meadville, and Titusville. There is no cost for this service and the veterans do not have to be members of any veterans organization. The Transportation Coordinator works every Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday scheduling rides and the volunteer drivers needed to keep things running smoothly.

Please Note: One ride is equivalent to an individual going to and returning from an appointment. Some organizations count a round-trip as two separate rides.

ABOUT CRAWFORD COUNTY

The County of Crawford lies in northwestern Pennsylvania. Originally it was inhabited by the Iroquiois Indians and other tribes and nations. In later years, the land was acquired by a group of Dutch investors under title of the Holland Land Company and resold to settlers. The Commonwealth allocated land to its Revolutionary War soldiers as a bonus settlement. The county was formed in 1800 from a portion of Allegheny County and named after Colonel William Crawford, an early military hero and close friend of George Washington.
