Housing Plan

What is the Housing Plan?

The Crawford County Planning Commission and Office are pleased to present the 2019 Housing Plan, Challenging Issues, Affordable Solutions. This 300+ page document is a detailed analysis of the economic, housing, and populations trends impacting Crawford County's market. The Plan is divided into 16 sections. An introduction and county-wide summary, individual analysis of 14 unique submarkets, and an appendix of reference materials.

How do I read the Plan?

Unlike a traditional planning document, the 2019 Housing Plan is tailored to various audiences. If you are an elected official or local planning commission member, you may only be interested in your community. Therefore, you might want to only read your submarket chapter, which analyzes your community. If you are a member of the private sector, whom interacts with development or the housing market, you might be more interested in county-wide trends as well as a few specific markets. Therefore, you might only pick up a few chapters.

ABOUT CRAWFORD COUNTY

The County of Crawford lies in northwestern Pennsylvania. Originally it was inhabited by the Iroquiois Indians and other tribes and nations. In later years, the land was acquired by a group of Dutch investors under title of the Holland Land Company and resold to settlers. The Commonwealth allocated land to its Revolutionary War soldiers as a bonus settlement. The county was formed in 1800 from a portion of Allegheny County and named after Colonel William Crawford, an early military hero and close friend of George Washington.
