Treasurer

Christine Krzysiak is the County Treasurer and Director of the Crawford County Tax Claim Bureau. These two departments are combined in one office. The Tax Claim Bureau collects delinquent real estate taxes that have been turned over by the 51 tax collectors of Crawford County. Christine Krzysiak is also the appointed Tax Collector of current county real estate taxes for the City of Titusville.

The office of the County Treasurer is familiar to most county residents. The treasurer is the official custodian of the county funds. Complete and accurate records are kept on all county monies, making this office one of the most important functions of county government. The County Code requires that all money received by the various county offices be turned over to the office of the County Treasurer for deposit in the financial institutions designated by the law as authorized depositories. A receipt is given for all money received by the Treasurer's Office. The County Treasurer invests county funds which are not needed for immediate operating expenditures. All checks issued by the county are signed by the County Treasurer or the Deputy.

Another function the residents of Crawford County associate with the Treasurer's Office is the issuance of licenses. This includes hunting, furtaking, antlerless, fishing, and life time dog licenses. Small games of chance licenses, bingo, special raffle, and thirty day licenses are all issued with the proper application and if requirements are met.

In addition to the duties listed above, the Treasurer's Office also issues Sportman's Firearm Permits, and provides lien certificates for real estate taxes.

ABOUT CRAWFORD COUNTY

The County of Crawford lies in northwestern Pennsylvania. Originally it was inhabited by the Iroquiois Indians and other tribes and nations. In later years, the land was acquired by a group of Dutch investors under title of the Holland Land Company and resold to settlers. The Commonwealth allocated land to its Revolutionary War soldiers as a bonus settlement. The county was formed in 1800 from a portion of Allegheny County and named after Colonel William Crawford, an early military hero and close friend of George Washington.
